The
Fairmont-Clarksburg Division of the Monongahela-West Penn Railways ran a
route north out of Fairmont to the town of Rivesville, WV. The
tracks paralleled the Monongahela River to Rivesville Power Station at
the north end of town. Many bridges still remain intact along the
old prw. The Picture below, is looking south just
below the power plant. The abandoned prw is now a walking
path. Route 19 passes below the the route just past the white
fence. The rail line to the right is the Norfolk Southern, once part of
the Monongahela Railroad. (11/2001) |
